How to announce your internship on LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok (with templates)
Post after you have signed, ideally in the week before you start. Say where you are going and what you will do, thank one or two people by name, and add one image. Keep it under 100 words on LinkedIn. Leave out your pay and anything confidential.
When to post
- After the offer is signed, not when you get a verbal yes.
- In the week before your start date, or on day one.
- Check with the company first if the team or project is confidential.
What to say
- Where and what: the company, your role and the season.
- Why it matters to you: one line, in your own words.
- Thanks: name the mentor, referrer or professor who helped.
- Tag the company page so the people you'll work with see it.

Swap the brackets for your details and cut anything that sounds unlike you.
Happy to share that I'm joining [Company] as a [Role] this [season]. I'll be working on [one specific thing]. Big thanks to [Name] for the referral and [Name] for the interview prep.
Signed. I'm spending [season] at [Company] as a [Role]. Can't wait to learn from this team.

Instagram stories and TikTok
Stories and TikTok want a vertical image, 1080 by 1920 pixels. Make a card with your name and the company in the free HERE WE GO card maker, post it, and put the details in the caption. It works for past internships too.

What to leave out
- Your pay or stipend.
- Anything about unreleased products or clients.
- Other offers you turned down.
- More than three hashtags.

Should I announce my internship on LinkedIn?
Yes, once you've signed. It tells recruiters and your network what you're working on, and people at the company often engage with it.
How long should the post be?
Two to four sentences. Lead with the news, then the thanks.
Is it cringe to post about an internship?
Not if it is short and specific. Thanking people by name reads as gratitude, not bragging.
Can I announce an internship I did in the past?
Yes. A throwback post works well at the start of a new season, or when you land your next role.
